From
the American Kitefliers Association Magazine "Kiting" - Fall
2002
I
see Children as Kites.
You spend years trying to get them off the ground. You run with them
untilyou are both breathless... They crash... You patch, comfort and
assure them that some day they will fly.
Finally they are airborne. They need more string and you keep letting
it
out, but with each twist of the ball of twine, there is a sadness
that goes
with joy.
The kite becomes more distant, and you know that it won't be long
before
that beautiful creation will snap the life line that binds you together
and
it will soar as it was meant to soar - free and alone.
Only then will you know that you did your job.
